New Build
Our building journey was a significant lifetime event for both Deb and I in a chapter of new begging and adventure.
At the start we only really knew 2 things, a facade that we loved and a block of land we owned. From the moment we stepped into Jason Wescott Builders we were greeted with not only a smile and an understanding but also a willingness to build a new family home that was unique and special.
In what can only be described as a collaboration we set about custom designing a relatively small executive home that would be both functional and fitting of the land. The process was seamless throughout, whereby any issues were easily raised and ideas routinely discussed and all were resolved with open communication and understanding of the end goal.
The entire Wescott team demonstrated pride, passion and diligence in all aspects of the build, the end result is nothing less than spectacular and something that has made us proud to own. The overall design and attention to detail is without question noted by all who have the privilege to visit.

Renovation/Extension
Firstly, let me make the statement that both Judith and I are absolutely delighted with the house Jason and his team have built for us!
In broad terms, the scope of the project was to completely strip our 1890’s Victorian era property, rebuild it to its former glory, and include a substantial extension that would seamlessly blend in with the rebuild. The location of the house and the heritage overlay coupled with our requirement to replicate period features meant that Judith and I spent considerable time meeting with builders that had been recommended for this type of work. Through this process we became very comfortable with the approach Jason and his team took working through our “vision” with us and we gave the “go ahead” for the project late December 2014. It is difficult to describe our experience with Jason and his team in a short testimony however the following summary attempts to capture key observations and experiences over the build program.
- Initial scope of work/proposal;
Strong understanding of our requirements and “value adding” experience with this type of build. The proposal was clear, provided a detailed scope of work and prompt attention was
given to queries and revisions that developed throughout the project.
- Project management;
Project management was excellent and no delays of any significance were experienced.
- Variation management;
As with all projects, there were interesting and unexpected challenges to be addressed. The “can do” approach displayed by Jason and his team certainly resonated well with Judith and myself and any variations (changes to the original contract) identified were discussed, costed and presented promptly for approval.
- Personnel;
Jason has a great team and in particular we acknowledge the assistance and support from Susan (administration), Matt (foreman) and Gregory (mumbles).We should also make the point that throughout the project we had the opportunity to meet with a number of subcontractors to Jason (Plumbing/Electrical/Painting/Plastering etc) along with Suppliers, and were impressed with their assistance and commitment to this build program. At the end of the project we felt we had met some great people and developed some wonderful friendships.
- Communication;
Another strong point! All matters were handled promptly and professionally. Meetings were conducted on site as required.
- Quality;
Excellent!
It should be noted the house is in a very high profile location and drew lots of comments/complements throughout (and beyond) the build process.
- Accessibility;
Having access to the house throughout construction was very important for us as we were keen to contribute to the process, in particular with the selection of features such as cornice, mantles, fire inserts etc. Jason and his team were very obliging (we were at the house at least once per week) and their experience and knowledge certainly assisted and guided us with our decision making.
In summary, our “journey” with Jason and the team has been a great experience and we would
like to believe that as a result of project we will all share a lasting friendship that will endure for
many years.

“We had 3 quotations for our proposed renovation to our house. The Jason Wescott price was middle of the range but what l was impressed with was not just the price but his way of achieving the end result with a high regard to a quality outcome.
I asked Jason not to take shortcuts and l always felt when we were discussing potential problems that he would offer different scenarios but recommend the best quality outcome and on every occasion we went with his recommendation. Consequently, we ended up with a house better than we first anticipated.
I am aware of the many stories where the renovation experience has been difficult because of builder attitude and poor communication but the experience we had with Jason and his crew was very different. At no stage did we find this stressful or difficult and this was because of the continual open communication that existed right through our 10 week renovation. "From our initial discussion to the completion of the warranty period we had a wonderful interaction with Jason Wescott Builders. Jason was not the lowest cost quote but it was his attention to detail in the quoting process that gave us confidence in keeping to our budget. Jason was able to use his extensive experience to offer advice to our drafting firm that resulted in an improved design. Jason himself was regularly onsite and anything that came up was dealt with professionally. What we liked the most was that Jason gave us options and took accountability for the solution. Importantly there were 'no surprises' as variations were agreed and signed off in advance of works being commenced. Although many builders say this is their process, Jason Wescott Builders adhere to it and the outcome is certainty for all. Jason’s team of tradespeople headed up by our foreman Austin showed great care in their work and also great respect for our wishes allowing us to remain in the house throughout the renovation. The office staff was always available and the paperwork prepared on time and easy to follow.
We also congratulate Jason, Kylie and team on attaining a prestigious and well-deserved MBA award for our renovation.
